On What basis this years Khel Ratna Award to be announced?

Khel Ratna Award for this year is to be announced in accordance to the performance of players from a period of January 1, 2016 to 31st December, 2019. In this period of time, Rohit Sharma was at his best form of life and created several records. The mostly highlighted performance of Rohit sharma in that period are:

  • Four T20 international centuries

  • Most 150+ scored in One Day cricket.

  • 18 ODI centuries from the starting of 2017

  • He ranked 4th at all time leading centurions on ODI cricket with 28 hundreds.  

BCCI President Sourav Ganguly said on a statement that “Rohit Sharma has set new benchmarks as a batsman and achieved scores people thought were not possible in the shorter formats of the game. We feel he is worthy of getting the prestigious Khel Ratna award for his commitment, conduct, consistency and his leadership skills,”.

Except Rohit Sharma, players like Ishant Sharma,Shikhar Dhawan and Dipti Yadav are shortlisted for Arjuna Award. 

Rohit Sharma was named ICC ODI Cricketer of the year 2019 when he was in sublime form. Who can forget his record breaking 5 centuries in 2019 ICC ODI World Cup. Rohis Sharma also have the record of most Sixes in International Cricket for India surpassing MS Dhoni. Rohit Sharma also have the record of being  maximum 4 times champion of Indian Premire League.

Other Important Update of Today:

The nationwide Lock-down is now turned into lock-down in Containment zones only. India gets a extension of Lock-down till June 30. MHA just informed about the extension of Lock-down.

In areas outside containment zones, prohibited activities till now is to be allowed in phased manner.

Hotels, Restaurants, Religious places, Shopping Malls to be allowed to open from June 8. It is to be allowed only in the area falling under outside of containment zones.

The Health Ministry to issue SOP on opening of Hotels, Restaurants, Religious places, Shopping Malls to make sure of Social distancing and not to allow the spread of Covid- 19.

No restrictions applied on Inter-state and Intra-State movement from June 1.
